This thematic focus area is dedicated to ensuring that children and their parents living with or affected by HIV can lead longer, healthier, and more fulfilling lives. We drive change by advocating for a multi-faceted approach that addresses the full spectrum of their needs:
- Investing in Children’s Health: We advocate for directing more resources towards children's health care, ensuring that life-saving treatments, diagnostics, and support services are accessible and of high quality.
- Integrating Nutrition for Better Outcomes: We work to integrate nutritional awareness and support into all treatment and care programs, recognizing that good nutrition is a cornerstone of a healthy life for those with HIV.
- Embracing a Family-Centered Approach: We promote interventions that involve the entire family, including men. This approach strengthens the family unit as the primary source of care and support for the child.
- Improving Research and Prevention: We champion research and evidence on modes of HIV transmission in children beyond vertical transmission, such as through sexual abuse or caring for sick family members. This work is critical for developing more effective and comprehensive prevention efforts.
